I am now offering Micro-Needling.  

Below are a few questions I am asked about the Micro-needling treatment. 

 

Q. AFTER THE TREATMENT WHAT CAN WE EXPECT TO SEE?

Good question!  After the procedure, your skin will show signs of redness or erythema and will appear similar to a moderate sunburn.  There may be some slight swelling.  Redness and swelling will begin to subside 24-48 hours after the treatment. By day 3 the erythema and swelling subsides and the skin takes on a pink color. There is barely any evidence that the procedure has taken place. During the first three days you will also experience some skin tightness, dryness and mild sensitivity to touch. It is strongly suggested that a skincare regimen to protect the skin and enhance the results be used. 

 

Q.  WHAT IS RECOMMENDED MAINTENANCE REGIME?

 

This depends on many factors.  Your skin type being one of them.  Since results can be seen 6-8 months after the last treatment it is recommended that you have your skin reviewed at least 6 months after the last treatment and dependent upon that review, a single session to stimulate the collagen production may be all that is needed.  Again, it depends on the person as everyone's skin is different.

Q. BOTOX AND FILLERS - ARE THEY BETTER THAN MICRO-NEEDLING?

Think of Micro-needling as an alternative to Botox and fillers. The advantage of wrinkles being filled in by the collagen production triggered with micro-needling is that the results are really long-lasting compared to injected fillers.  In addition, it is not a synthetic effect; it is your own collagen!  Restylan, Perlane or other fillers based on cross-linked hyaluronic acid are very expensive and they are relatively quickly metabolized by the body so that they have to be re-injected every few months.

 

Q.  HOW LONG DO THE MICRO-NEEDLING RESULTS LAST?

The results of micro-needling, a relatively inexpensive method, will last for 8 months, if not longer. The results are not permanent, however, as micro-needling cannot stop aging, and lines and wrinkles will eventually start to re-form. Because of this, micro-needling maintenance is necessary.
